Our Story and Mission at Rxlm Records
RXLM Records is the result of the lifelong musical journey of Rene Martinez, an artist shaped by sound long before he knew it would become his calling. His story begins in junior high, with a simple Casio keyboard — a small instrument that opened a vast world. From that moment, music wasn’t just something he played; it became the language he lived in.
As the years moved forward, Rene followed that language wherever it led. The Yamaha PSR530 arrived in 1999, expanding his imagination. Korg keyboards, Boss samplers, and countless hours of experimentation taught him how to sculpt sound with his own hands. By 2005, he stepped fully into digital creation, exploring DAWs from Cakewalk and Kinetic to the modern home he found in FL Studio.
RXLM Records is also a shared creation. Rene and his wife, Rosa Martinez, began this journey together in 2005, building the foundation of what RXLM would become. Their partnership — strengthened when they married on June 20, 2006 — remains the heartbeat of the label.
Rene’s musical foundation was shaped early by his mother, who filled the house with the biggest pop icons of the late ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. Her favorites were the megastars who defined mainstream radio and MTV — Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, and the era’s larger‑than‑life performers. Growing up in that environment gave Rene a broad appreciation for pop, dance, and the evolving sound of modern music. He
As he entered the ’90s, Rene’s own musical identity expanded dramatically. He gravitated toward hip‑hop and was drawn to the raw energy of artists like Run D.M.C., Too Short, 2 Live Crew, N.W.A., Geto Boys, and Cypress Hill. At the same time, he fell deep into the underground electronic world, discovering boundary‑pushing creators such as DJ Shadow, Banco de Gaia, 808 State, Tricky, and The Crystal Method. That fusion of pop‑driven roots, hard‑edged hip‑hop, and experimental electronic music continues to shape his creative perspective today.
RXLM Records was born from all of this — not as a corporate label, but as a creative sanctuary. A place where music is personal, where sound is crafted with intention, and where independence is not a style but a philosophy. RXLM is the story of two people, decades of passion, and a belief that music should feel alive.
